Nearly 300 students from the Beyond The Broncos program recently headed to Dreamworld to celebrate the end of the school year. Students who achieved an attendance level of 90% or higher, were encouraged to attend a day of activities at the Gold Coast Theme Park.

Over the course of the day, the students attended several workshops with a theme focusing on the culture of Indigenous Australians, which included fire making, weapons, music demonstrations, and face painting.

Broncos star Darius Boyd came along to attend the event in support of the students’ achievement. “We’re going through some activities, and seeing some sights, it’s been a good day” – the Broncos Captain commented. “I just think its good to show that by doing good things that you can receive gifts, it’s all about working hard and focusing on goals… [The students] have been doing really well with attendance, so that’s why they’re here today to celebrate that”.

Students were treated to a catered lunch, thanks to the Preston Campbell Foundation, which was enjoyed alongside Broncos players Patrick Carrigan, Jonus Pearson, Eddie Blacker, Troy Dargan,  under the big shell at White Water World.

Bo de la Cruz, Ambassador for the Beyond The Broncos program emphasised the importance of rewarding the kids for their attendance with the end of year fun day. “It’s all a part of what our program is about… Trying to get kids to go to school, and then retention through to year 12. It’s been so important for the whole year, the kids have worked hard”.

After a morning of activities, students were eager to get onto some rides, and spend the rest of the day exploring the park. An afternoon of thrills proved to be a great reward for their effort throughout the school year, with all students walking out of Dreamworld with big smiles by the end of the day.
