Kahu Sets His Kicking Bar High

JORDAN Kahu has underlined just how much he wants to be the most reliable goal kicker in the NRL.

Kahu slotted five from six goals against the Knights last Saturday, only missing the final conversion from the corner.

He had already booted a couple of beauties from out wide.

But rather than talk about what he did do, Kahu was upset with himself for ruining his perfect record.

After missing a goal from the sideline that would have drawn the match against the Roosters in June, Kahu has sown a steely focus with his kicking responsibility.

He may be fourth on the NRL’s point-scoring list for 2017, but Kahu was not happy with missing his final shot.

It’s a good barometer of how good he wants to be.

“I am pretty filthy on that,” he said.

“I have worked really hard on that because I missed one earlier this year that counted.

“I am just going to try my best to not do that again.”

Kahu said the Broncos had to work now as they began the run to the finals.

Sitting in equal-third position, the Broncos have seven games left, starting with Thursday night’s big clash at Suncorp Stadium with the Bulldogs.

“It is going to be a tough run home but we get our boys back so we have to knuckle down and work hard,” he said.

“I am really excited – we are motivated and had a good break last week so we are ready to go.”

The Broncos will name their team for the clash with the Bulldogs this afternoon, with Josh McGuire and Matt Gillett certainties to return after being rested last week.
