A SUPER second-half performance has catapulted the NRMA Insurance Broncos under-20s to a big win in Sydney tonight.

Down 12-10 at halftime, the young Broncos destroyed the Rabbitohs 24-4 in the second half to record a 34-16 victory.

Two tries to Payne Haas made a difference for the Broncos, whose only blemish in the second half was a try to Tyrone Taukamo as the siren sounded.

The Broncos got straight back in front after halftime when big prop Haas muscled his way over just after the break.

Gerome Burns knocked it over from out wide to give the Broncos a 16-12 lead.

Lightning-quick centre Kotoni Staggs got it out to a 10-point lead when he was next to dot down.

And when Haas steamed through to nab his try-scoring double, the Broncos were away at 28-12 with 19 minutes to go.

A grubber from Burns turned at right angles to give his halves partner Tristan Hope a try just inside the dead-ball line with 12 minutes remaining.

Earlier, the Broncos opened the scoring after just five minutes when Keegan Hipgrave went over in his first start in the NYC this year.

Hipgrave has dealt with a long-term hamstring injury and played off the bench in his return this season, but showed his recovery was coming along with the early try.

It was looking good when David Fauid snuck out wide onto a grubber to make it 10-0 after 10 minutes.

But the Rabbitohs would hit back to take the lead.

First Dean Hawkins scored and then big forward Sam Johnstone went over, putting the Rabbitohs in front 12-10 after 26 minutes.

It would stay that way until the halftime as completion rates by both sides deteriorated.

BRONCOS NYC 34 (P Haas 2, K Hipgrave, D Fauid, K Staggs, T Hope tries; G Burns 5 goals) defeated RABBITOHS NYC 16 (D Hawkins, S Johnstone T Taukamo tries; Hawkins 2 goals) at ANZ Stadium.
