Key Match-Ups – Round 19

Updated: July 16, 2017

Tonight’s clash at Cbus Super Stadium is set to be a big one and there are a number of match-ups which will have a strong influence on the outcome.

The Halfbacks

These two players are crucial to tonight’s outcome. The chief play makers for their respective sides, the number 7s could prove to be the difference at Cbus Super Stadium.

Chad Townsend has been one of the Sharks’ most consistent players in 2017, featuring in all matches this season. Townsend’s kicking game will be key tonight and will be crucial to the Sharks’ field position and attacking play.

Ash Taylor has been good for the Titans this year, calling the shots for his side in season 2017. With similar statistics to Townsend, Taylor’s kicking game will be crucial to the clash so expect to see the Sharks pressure th young Titans half.

The Back Rowers

Two top-shelf back rowers. Graham and Proctor is a match-up set to ignite lovers of Rugby League.

Backing up after what was a brutal State of Origin series, Wade Graham will be looking for a big performance tonight. Graham’s statistics have been very good this year, terrorising defensive lines on the Sharks left-edge along with his brutal defence.

Proctor on the otherhand has been a little underwhelming by his own standards in 2017. With his numbers down, Proctor hasn’t hit the heights he did during his time at the Melbourne Storm. However, this is no need for the Sharks to take their foot off the gas! Proctor will need watching.

The Lock Forwards

The match-up is a case of the old bull and young buck.

Paul Gallen has once again been 10/10 for the Cronulla Sharks, playing like he is 21 again! Leading the Sharks charge both in attack and defence, Gallen is key to his side’s hopes tonight and Shane Flanagan will be looking to him to produce some of his best football tonight.

Max King on the otherhand is something of an unknown commodity, playing in his debut year in 2017. The Newcastle product faces one of the biggest challenges of his 10 game career tonight when he takes on Paul Gallen. Expect to see a clash with plenty of feeling here.
