Jillaroos captain Ruan Sims attended the official launch of the 2017 Women’s Rugby League World Cup on Tuesday morning, speaking to Sharks TV about her excitement ahead of the tournament.

“It’s been a landmark year for not only women’s rugby league, but women’s sport in general”

“For us to top off the year with a stand alone women’s competition, and have two world champions crowned on the same day in the same sport is phenomenal” said Sims.

With six nations competing in this year’s World Cup, Sims spoke on just how important it is to continue the growth of the Women’s game.

“It’s a really great opportunity to show that no matter if you’re a boy or a girl, whatever you want to do, this just gives them a little bit of an impetus to just go and try and achieve your dreams”

“It’s not just about our game, it’s about inspiring that next generation coming through.”
