Hooker Nathan Peats took home the Coaches Award on Wednesday night at the Titans Awards Night and admitted that the year has been one big roller coaster ride.

The Titans may have finished 15th on the competition ladder but the La Perouse junior believes the side will be better in the future after the season they have had.

“I think we used 34 or 35 players and we’ve got a young squad as well,” Peats said. “We’ve got a good group of leaders in Dark (Ryan James, Kev (Proctor), J Wal (Wallace) and Haynesy (Jarryd) so we’ll all be better for this having this year.

“The young bucks showed plenty of promise and gained a lot of experience.”

Peats played 15 games in 2017 and definitely rode the wave of ups and downs in 2017.

“It was a roller coaster in 2017. Dislocated my shoulder in that final trial, made Origin, the birth of my second child and finished the season in a sling.

“I wouldn’t have got through it all without my partner, Jade, she pushed through it all, the injuries and everything. Each year I’ve had something and she’s been on the ride as well.

“People think footy players are invincible but plenty of people are in on it as well. Mum and Dad, my partner, are all there to help.”
