An Invaluable Visit

Head Coach Anthony Seilbold couldn’t be been happier with this week’s preseason results, as the boys worked alongside AFL side Port Adelaide Football Club in a host of hybrid training sessions.

Putting in the hard yards under a hot Sydney sun both groups of players had smiles on their faces as they tried their hand at a different code and learnt new techniques and skills.

“It was a really enjoyable last couple of days, we hosted Port Adelaide for a couple of reasons one was to share learning, so both sets of coaching staff can help each other but more importantly the playing groups had an opportunity to do a number of sessions together,” said Seibold.

“We finished with a hybrid game session this morning which was really enjoyable, all our GPS data was through the roof, the players worked hard but they really enjoyed themselves.”

Focusing on a variety of techniques both groups showed off what it takes to make it in their respective code, with Seibold outlining a few aspects from the AFL game that he wanted his players to focus on.

“A couple of things one was their expertise in the kicking and catching component of our game, Adam Reynolds is one of the best kickers in the competition but always Adam can continue to learn and develop,”

“It’s the same with our catchers our outside back we need to continue to work and grow with our catching expertise.”

Mixing conditioning components with skills components it was easy to see that the playing groups enjoyed the shake up to what can often to be a regimented preseason and it is something Seibold wants to continue pushing throughout the rest of preseason.

“To have the port Adelaide coaching staff and players here for the last couple of days in those sessions is invaluable for us and we can replicate those sessions going forward and continue to grow those components of our game,” said Seibold.

“It was all about the change of scenery for our guys to have the Port Adelaide here for both staff and players and it was great for the two groups to mix”
